The Adelaide Cabaret Festival has launched its program so if you’re in Adelaide check out the feature on the Ngapartji Ngapartji Language show which is coming to Adelaide in June. You can look at the program online by going to http://www.adelaidecabaret.com/. This season is based around the website and features a different theme each night over 3 nights, with a fourth night bringing all the themes together. Each show also includes an excerpt from the big production which has been playing at the major festivals around Australia. Tickets for the Adelaide season are limited so get in quick!
In Alice this week we’ve started work on a promo video for Ngapartji Ngapartji which would play before Ngapartji Ngapartji films to let audiences in communities or other public events know a bit more about where these videos are coming from. At this stage Batesy and myself have been asking young people to tell us what they think the project is about and what kinds of things they do with us. As well as this Joanne Andrews and Maureen have been writing personal profiles which we’ve pasted up around the office and Belinda has been making a photo map of Docker River to contribute to the website design. Sadie made a slideshow about her time in Perth and Belinda made one about the trip to Docker.
The kids at Abbott's camp watching Docker River films last night. Last night we had a film night at Abott’s camp hosted by Kevin Wirri and Dorris Abbott at their place with Belinda operating the DVD. We set up the van inside the fence and projected onto a sheet and soon there were about 20 kids and 35 young people and adults watching the films and video material created in Docker River and edited into short films, documentaries and language lessons by Batesy. Batesy’s busy making copies for everyone now and you can look forward to some great material coming to the website soon.
