Welcome to the last Ngapartji Ngapartji news for 2008. After the excitement of the Ernabella/ Alice Springs tour, as well as the recent Deadly award, you’d think there’d be nothing left to report. But the action continues with documentary footage gathering, new projects in the pipeline, the completion of a series of literacy and arts workshops at Abbott’s Camp, participation in conferences both locally and nationally and more!!!

Congratulations at the outset to Trevor Jamieson and Scott Rankin who were presented with a Deadly Award last week for 'Most Outstanding Achievement in Theatre' for the show Ngapartji Ngapartji. Congratulations and thanks extend to everyone who has worked on the Ngapartji Ngapartji project over the past three years – you have enabled the theatre show to become what it is.
Apologies for the lateness of the news but we are indeed in the aftermath of the incredible feat it was to tour the Ngapartji Ngapartji stage show to Pukatja (Ernabella) community, followed by a three-night season in Alice Springs to coincide with Art in the Heart, the Regional Arts Australia National Conference. The task of mounting the full-scale theatre show in a creekbed in a remote community cannot be underestimated and thanks needs to go to management and crew, most of whom went well and beyond their usual work hours and roles to make it happen so successfully.

Two weeks ago we heard the sad news that Trevor’s father had passed
away. Scott and Suzy attended the funeral in Kalgoorlie on the weekend.
The news has affected everyone on the project and many who have seen
the stage show, as it is this man’s story which sits at the heart of
Trevor’s family narrative. Some of us were fortunate to meet Trevor’s
father when he came to the show in Perth, delighted as we were to meet
in real life the man whom Trevor had portrayed so skillfully over the
past two years of the production that we felt we knew him a little. We
acknowledge that the upcoming season may be challenging for Trevor at
this time but the family has expressed their support for the show to go
on and this man’s story to be told. We send our love and thoughts to Trevor's family.
We look forward to Trevor’s arrival in Alice Springs next Thursday. Trevor will be involved in some preliminary shooting for the documentary before the team goes down to Pukatja in convoy on the 15th.
